Birthdays on FOX 10 AZ AM

Want us to wish your loved one a Happy Birthday, live on "Arizona Morning"? It's easy.

Take a look at our birthday page for the instructions:
www.myfoxphoenix.com/subindex/more_azam/birthdays

You can upload your photos to us on the page. Make sure to include the name, pronunciation, city and age of the birthday person, as well as your name and contact phone number, in case we have questions. Please allow a week or more lead time to ensure your birthday wish is aired.

Q) Can birthday pictures be uploaded?
A) Yes.

*If you upload a photo with gang signs/symbols and/or insulting hand gestures, it will not be shown on the morning show or on our web site.

Q) Can birthday pictures be mailed?
A) No. We are only accepting photos submitted on our web site.

Q) If you want to wish someone happy birthday every year, do you have to send a new picture every year?
A) Yes

Q) How many birthday wishes can be sent at a time?
A) As many as you want, but please send only one photo per person.

Q) How far in advance does a birthday wish need to be sent out?
A) At least one week.

Q) I uploaded a birthday picture yesterday, but it wasn't on the morning show today. Why not?
A) We ask that birthday pictures be submitted at least one week ahead of time. We can not guarantee that every birthday wish will be aired.

Q) Will you do a belated-birthday wish?
A) No.

Q) I want to wish someone a happy birthday, but don't have a picture. Can you mention it?
A) No. We need a picture of the person having a birthday.

Q) I want to announce an anniversary. Can you do that?
A) No. We are only doing birthdays.

Q) Can you announce my pet's birthday if I send a picture?
A) Sorry, humans only.

Q) I want to see today's birthday segment online. Where is the video?
A) Go to www.myfoxphoenix.com/subindex/more_azam/birthdays

Q) Do you delete birthday segment videos off the web site after they've been announced?
A) No, the videos stay online for 1 year.

Q) I submitted a picture from my camera phone, but it looked like mush during the birthday segment. Why can't you fix my photo?
A) Pictures must be larger than 320x240 pixels (4 inches by 3 inches). If a picture is submitted that's smaller than those dimensions, the photo will appear distorted! We can not increase the size of a small photo and clear up the detail.

Q) I want to celebrate the birthday of a family member who is deceased. Will you announce his birthday?
A) No, we are only announcing birthdays of the living.

Q) When will the birthday wish air?
A) Between 9:45am - 10:00am. It will air on the person's birthday (M-F) If the birthday is on a weekend, it will air on Friday

Video/Audio Troubleshooting:

Q) I'm having trouble viewing the videos and/or photos on the website. Why?
A) There could be many different reasons. Here's what we suggest to try. So far, these suggestions have eliminated most problems.

  1. Make sure you have the most up-to-date versions of the Macromedia Flash Player and Windows Media Player. If you are prompted to get the latest version, click on the link and follow the instructions to install the program.
  2. Some anti-virus software may interfere. Try turning off your anti-virus protection TEMPORARILY. Don't forget to re-enable it! Safety first!
  3. Some personal firewall software programs may interfere with viewing the videos . Try turning that off TEMPORARILY as well.
  4. If you are still unable to install the program(s) to view the videos, contact your anti-virus/firewall software company, your computer's manufacturer and/or internet service provider for technical support.

Troubleshooting tips:

Q) What can I do if the video stalls or is slow in playing?
A) At times the network experiences sudden surges in activity that exceed current capacity.
If you experience stalling or a poor experience, you may choose to drag the scrub button back in the program timeline below the video or wait a few minutes before viewing the programming to help alleviate the high demand and improve your personal viewing experience.

Q) Why does audio or video playback stop and/or stall?
A) Playback should not stop or stall under normal circumstances. If playback stalls, you can usually recover and begin viewing by refreshing your browser or closing your browser and opening it again. These stalls should be rare but they will happen when internet congestion prevents video delivery for an extended period of time.

Q) Why doesn't the audio and video play?
A) You may have a content filter, anti-virus application, or proxy accelerator running that is preventing the download of video content. Please turn off these services and try again. *You will also need a Broadband/High Speed (DSL or Cable) connection to watch the videos.

Q) Why does audio play without video?
A) You may be watching the webpage on a dual monitor configuration. If you are, make sure that the video is on your primary monitor.

Q) I can watch the video, but why can't I hear the audio?
A) Go to www.adobe.com/software/flash/about for the latest version of Adobe's Flash video player. The software stores its files in a temporary folder. Sometimes, a corrupt download can cause sound problems.

You can also delete your temporary internet files on your computer:
Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options
Firefox: Tools -> Clear Private Data
Opera: Tools -> Delete Private Data
Safari ->Reset Safari

Q) I tried deleting the temporary internet files, but the audio still won't work? What else can I do?
A) You can also uninstall your computer's current version of Flash, then install the newest version: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Adobe also has a list troubleshooting issues and fixes on that page.

Is the mute button on the video player on?  If so, click on it to turn it off.

Volume on TV ads

Q) The volume of the commercials is so much louder than the shows that we have to continuously adjust. Is there a way to remedy this?
A) The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does not regulate the volume of programs or commercials. FCC rules limit the amount of power that a station can transmit and the peak level of the program material. Within these limitations, however, broadcasters and program producers have considerable latitude to vary the “loudness” of the program material.
