PHOENIX - A dust storm is passing through Phoenix, and visibility has been reduced to a quarter-mile. The large dust storm is covering most of the southeast Valley.

The weather is having an impact on flights at Sky Harbor. Three US Airways flights and one Southwest Airlines flight  were diverted to Tucson where there are no delays -- affecting about 500 passengers.

The dense blowing dust is expected to spread towards the north, affecting mainly central and eastern portions of the Phoenix metro area. The dust storm warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday night -- and there's an excessive heat warning in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when driving. If you see a dust storm approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn off the lights all the way, and take your foot off the brake pedal.
