TEMPE, Ariz. - Some hungry hot dog lovers tested their skills Saturday in the annual hot dog eating championship at Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe.

Contestants from all over the country flew in for the competition, along with Phoenix local Eugene Ieanuso.

At stake was the title of Arizona's hot dog eating champion, and the chance to compete in the Nathan's Famous 4th of July International Hot Dog Eating Competition in Coney Island, New York.

Contestants had to eat as many hot dogs as they could in 10 minutes. The winner? Erik "The Red" Denmark, the salmon-eating champion from Seattle. He downed 28 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

"Oh yeah, I think I could do another ten. I don't want to but I could if I had to," he says afterwards.

Last 4th of July, 40,000 fans turned out to watch the Coney Island competition live, and another million watched it on TV.
