TEMPE, Ariz. - The big BCS Championship game is just days away. Auburn will taken on Oregon at the University of Phoenix stadium.
Both teams have already arrived in the valley. In fact, one made a special appearance at a school in Tempe.
Students' eyes lit up as the University of Oregon duck and cheerleaders made a stop at Threw Elementary.
Ms. Klassy's 3rd grade glass spent a lot of time learning about the University of Oregon and the importance of going to college.
"It's like any other way you look at life when you think about it all the time, and you expect that's what it's going to be..it becomes a habit..oh, I'm going to college," said Klassy.
Many of the children at this school come from low-income families. So as a part of the curriculum, they've made each class pick a school to study to prove anyone can get a college education.
"Because you can get a better education, a better job and learn," said student David Cisneros.
Alumni from Oregon stop by every month to talk about what a major is and how it all works.
"We're hoping to inspire them to continue to work hard in the classroom and know that college is a possibility for all of them," said Melissa Mehaffey of the UO Alumni Association.
So when students found out Oregon was coming to Arizona to play in the BCS Bowl, they asked them to make a stop at their school and they got just what they asked for.
The school is in the process of joining a nationwide program called No Excuses. In the program, all students make a commitment to go to college.
