Suns Player's Mom Arrested in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE - The mom of Phoenix Suns player Amare Stoudamire was arrested over the weekend, and we're getting a listen of a bizarre recording taken shortly after officers took her into custody.

An officer stopped Carrie Stoudamire on Saturday afternoon because of erratic driving. This recording took place while Carrie was in the car being transported to the jail.

Carrie is in the back of a Scottsdale Police car, talking to the officer, when the recording begins: "Does it make you feel good…"

She later says, "Have a good day. Don't hurt to smile."

The recording goes for about 8 minutes and halfway through it gets a little heated.

Carrie: Don't ever tell anybody to shut up....
Officer: I told you to be quiet.
Carrie: You can't make me be quiet if I don't want to be quiet… is it bothering you… that you want me to be quiet.
Officer: Because you are screaming.

According to the Scottsdale police report, the officer noticed on Carrie's driver's license than an interlock device was required. But the car she was driving didn't have one.

Police say when Amare showed up at the police station, Carrie yelled at him to get a lawyer.

The report read: "(Carrie) had a lot of money inside her wallet that was located inside her purse… she wanted her purse to go with Amare, but she wanted the wallet to go with her. Carrie stated, 'I don't trust him, he will take all my money!'"

The officer also said the Carrie insisted she was on her way to alcohol class and had not been drinking.

"Boy that feels good to be arrested and not drunk. Woo hoo!" she says in the tape.

Carrie Stoudamire was booked into the Scottsdale jail and later released. In addition to missing the interlock device, she was cited for speeding and failing to drive in a single lane.
