SCOTTSDALE - A Cincinnati Reds baseball player in Arizona for spring training has been cited for driving on a suspended license.

Reds outfielder Laynce Nix was ticketed in lieu of detainment for driving his rental car while his Arizona drivers license was suspended.

The 29-year-old was stopped by an officer at N Scottsdale Rd and E Butherus last Wednesday night for failing to obey a traffic control device -- police say he sat through a green light.

According to the report, Nix was looking down at his phone at the time and was stopped while the light was green and two cars waited behind him.

Nix's AZ drivers license was suspended for failure to appear on a traffic offense back in 2003.

Nix was cited and released. The rental car was impounded for 30 days.
