PHOENIX - It was a happy afternoon for valley military families. Nearly 200 National Guardsmen have returned to Arizona, and their families were waiting for them at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport hangar.
One Arizona soldier got to meet his newborn son. Kyle Dowdy got to hold baby Konner for the very first time Thursday. His wife Erin is very happy to have the family of five back together again.
Dowdy came home with nearly 200 soldiers from the 140th Transportation Company and the 158th Infantry Battalion, both Arizona Army National Guard units.
These soldiers had been in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan for nearly a year.
FOX 10's Marc Martinez reports.
