Peoria Officers Killed in Crash Laid to Rest

PEORIA - The Peoria Police Department said goodbye to two of its own Saturday. Donna Cullum and Officer Mike Gauchat were killed in a helicopter crash near Black Canyon City a week ago.

The two were laid to rest Saturday at Christ Church of the Valley.

The wail of bagpipes accompanied Officer Gauchat and Cullum's flag-draped caskets.

Gauchat, 41, and Cullum, 45, met in the department and formed a relationship.

Both were in Gauchat's home-built two-seat helicopter when it went down May 22 about 35 miles north of Phoenix.

The cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation.
