PHOENIX - A bill to generally prohibit sending text messages while driving has failed to emerge from the Arizona Senate.
The Senate rejected the bill on a 14-15 vote without debate.
The Senate also acted on several other driving bills.
Senators approved a bill to require motorists to put children ages 5 through 8 in booster seats or other age-appropriate restraint systems. It goes to the House.
The Senate overwhelming rejected a bill to prohibit smoking in a vehicle with child passengers.
