PHOENIX - A pet can be just like another member of the family, and for those looking to add a kitten or puppy to theirs today, an event is making it easy.
Arizona Animal Welfare League and HALO, the states two largest no-kill organizations, joined forces for the first time for an Empty the Shelter Event.
They were trying to find families for 180 pets on Saturday at the shelter on Washington and 40th Street.
They lowered the adoption fees for all of the animals to make that happen.
“We are hoping that by 10:00 tonight when we close down, we will have zero animals up for adoption. We will empty the shelter and fill it up again tomorrow,” said Shannon Blizzard, of AAWL.
The 12-hour adopt-a-thon ends at 10 tonight, so you still have time to get out there if you want to get one of these cute cats or dogs.
