SACRAMENTO, CA - An insurance company is offering insurance..for marijuana - in case it's lost or stolen!

The California company, Statewide Insurance Services, is the first ever to do so.

Sara Sinclair, who owns Sara Jane, a medical marijuana shop, says "It's an incredible thing to be able to come somewhere in the morning where I know I'm going to be able to make a positive impact on people's lives..This is a regular business just like any other and should be insured."

The coverage will be available nationwide even though only 14 states allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

"So we're insuring not only just the dispensaries now but we've taken it another step. We're actually insuring the growers now." said Statewide Insurance Services' Mike Aberle.

In order to get the insurance, growers have to buy a state of the art safe, install surveillance cameras and an alarm system.

The insurance would cover seed to harvest, water damage and workers compensation.

"So for those of us who are legitimate and have a valid business, this is a fabulous thing." says Sinclair.
