Chandler Toddler Drowns in Pool

CHANDLER - A 2-year-old boy has died, after he's found in the apartment complex pool.

It happened at an apartment complex near Arizona Ave and Elliot in Chandler.

Paramedics say he was not breathing and did not have a pulse when he was transported to the hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The pool fence gates were locked, so it's not clear how he got in.

"Children at any age can be very motivated. It's surprising how many obstacles they can defeat in a short period of time if they're determined," says Chandler Battalion Chief Paul Nies. "This little boy reportedly really enjoyed spending time in the pool."
