The 911 call is being released in the accident that almost left a 52-year-old Gilbert man without a hand. On Nov. 12, Timothy Blazer sawed his hand off -- but didn't panic.

Operator: "Stay on the phone with me okay?"
Blazer: "Ahh, yes."
Operator: "How old are you?"
Blazer: "I'm 52."

He sounds calm, but in unbelievable pain. Blazer was working in his garage when his saw slipped and severed his hand.

Although he kept his compsure, he told the 911 operator he thought he wouldn't make it. She keeps him on the line by asking questions.

Operator: "Sir are you there?"
Blazer: "Ahh, I feel like I might pass out."
Operator: "Okay can you sit down?"
Blazer: "I am sitting down."

Blazer was calm enough to put his severed hand on ice and wait for paramedics. Doctors were able to reattach his hand, and he's expected to recover up to 90 percent sensation.

He remains in the ICU in good condition.

"He just remembered his training and did what he was told to do in emergencies," says Blazer's wife Cindy.
