SCOTTSDALE - Police say 29-year-old Trisha Anne Proud has been arrested for allegedly embezzling a Scottsdale Girl Scout Troop.
One June 12, coworkers noticed more than $8,000 had gone missing from the account. All that money was raised by the Girl Scouts through cookie sales. They contacted Scottsdale Police.
According to documents, Proud, who was the sole signatory of the troop, had been writing checks and taking out money from the account.
Proud was arrested and charged with one count of theft - misrepresent/embezzle.
The Girl Scouts always do background checks on their volunteers, but nothing came up on Proud.
