Arizona State Fair Comes to an End

PHOENIX - Sunday is the last day of the Arizona State Fair. Did the economy have an impact on how it "fair"-ed?

Turnout in 2009 was not as high as last year.

This year, more than 961,436 people visited the fair between October 16 and Nov. 8.

"We expected to see a significant decline in attendance numbers over last year, especially with the current state of the economy and concerns over crowds and the flu. That said, we offered record-setting discounts and had plenty of hand sanitizer and hand washing stations available, and people really took advantage of them. We got a lot of positive feedback on this year's fair so we hope to build on those comments for next year," according to Kristi Walsh, marketing director for the Fair.
