The Phoenix Lights...We Are Not Alone

It was 13 years ago this week that a strange phenomenon appeared in the skies over Phoenix.  They became known as the "Phoenix Lights."

The lights made national headlines as pilots at Sky Harbor Airport were wondering if some other aircraft was in their airspace, but nothing came up on radar.

Some witnesses believe Arizona was visited by alien space craft, at least one of which was a large triangular vessel, seen by thousands of people, from Kingman to Prescott and Phoenix to Tucson.

What really happened?  It wasn't until five months later that the Air Force gave an explanation.  They said the lights were flares dropped by National Guard A-10 jets over the Goldwater Range, more than a hundred miles away near Ajo, Arizona.

Many witnesses don't buy the explanation, saying it doesn't explain what they saw hovering just feet over their heads that night.

Dr. Lynne Kitei has studied the topic extensively and has an expanded new edition of her book, The Phoenix Lights: A Skeptics Discovery that We Are Not Alone and there's a special screening of a documentary this week at Harkins Theatres in Scottsdale.
