Phoenix Set to Inaugurate a New Mayor

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix is set to inaugurate a new mayor when Greg Stanton takes the oath of office. Stanton becomes the 52nd mayor of Phoenix Tuesday taking over from Phil Gordon.

Also taking the oath of office are District 5 Councilman-elect Daniel Valenzuela, who replaces term-limited Councilman Claude Mattox, and re-elected Council members Bill Gates, Michael Nowakowski and Thelda Williams.

The ceremony is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Phoenix.

A public reception follows the swearing-in ceremony at the Phoenix City Hall Atrium.
