Kids who had the day off school visited the Phoenix Zoo Wednesday to check out the newest animal -- an 8-foot long komodo dragon.
Ivan the Komodo dragon is the largest lizard in the world, weighing in at 120 pounds. He's not very friendly.
"Very powerful bite, very powerful claws and they use their weight. So they're used to knocking things over," says zoo worker Dan Subaitis.
Ivan has been at the zoo for a month now -- and Guya the female arrived about a week ago.
The zoo expects about 10,000 people to walk through the exhibit Wednesday alone.
"He can move really quick, if there's food involved, really fast, can run about 12 miles per hour," says Subaitis.
Komodo dragons eat anything that moves -- from a rat to a deer. The zoo says they will have the two lizards for years before they move again.
