PHOENIX (AP) ’ State gaming agents have seized electronic gambling machines from four Phoenix-area legion and lodge halls, authorities said Wednesday.

Eight pay-for-play video machines were seized Tuesday at two Moose Clubs, an Elks Lodge, an American Legion hall, and the property of 71-year-old Richard Victory of Mesa, according to the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.

Department spokesman Rick Medina said Victory provided the machines in exchange for a percentage of the profits, and that he collected thousands of dollars in undeclared income every month.

Victory declined to comment when reached at his home.

The department also seized more than $12,000 in cash, several computers, a vehicle, gaming records and financial documents.

Medina said Victory was released from custody but that charges likely will be filed against him this week. He could be facing charges of operating an illegal enterprise, and promoting and benefiting from gambling.

He said it was still unclear how Victory was getting the gambling machines.
