Family Gives Back After Son Nearly Drowns

PHOENIX - A valley family helped a cause close to their heart after their 2-year-old son nearly drowned.

On Saturday, they gave back to those who helped them at all six Classic Car Spa locations around the valley, where they were accepting donations.

The money raised was going to Cardon Children's Medical Center and the Drowning Prevention Coaltion of Arizona.

The Shores family put the fundraiser together after they almost lost their son, Stryker, three weeks ago.

They said they are coming out with their story in order to give back.

“Spreading the word that no one can ever be too safe with their children and also to give back a fraction of what we have received in our gift of life that we still have our son,” said Scott Shores, Stryker’s father. “If we can prevent one family from having to go through the emotional roller coaster of a drowning, it will give us self satisfaction.”

The money will go to help with drowning prevention and for toys for near-drowning victims in recovery
