With budget cuts, many local libraries have cut their hours. Now there's a new way to borrow books: you can download them to your home computer!
The Digital Bookmobile is a 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer that serves as a community outreach vehicle for public libraries to promote downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video.
This super-sized bookmobile tours the country to help promote the Virtual Branch Libraries, which are growing in popularity.
Even with anytime, anywhere access, you'll still encounter a familiar library experience when you download digital books from your library. Digital book downloads are borrowed just like print materials.
Once you select the title or author you want, follow the simple steps to check out and then download the title to your home computer. You can transfer most titles to portable media players such as MP3 players, PDAs, or Smartphones with just a few clicks.
Each title you download has a designated lending period. When the title expires, it is automatically returned to your library's 'Virtual Branch,' so there are no late fees. It's that simple!
