PHOENIX - A 27-year-old woman who went hiking on Camelback Mountain has been rescued by helicopter after hurting her leg in a fall.
Other hikers discovered the woman hurt and trapped on a trail and called 911 Saturday morning.
Because she was halfway up the mountain on a steep incline, Phoenix firefighters decided to use a helicopter to bring her down.
"We always have to plan for the worse. Initial reports, we were thinking we were going to have to do a lot of rope and rigging and setting up to get her to the landing zone. Fortunately that's not going to have to happen," said Captain Alex Rangel.
The woman suffered a fractured ankle and will be fine.
