A Phoenix police officer who died after taking part in a charity boxing match is being remembered Saturday.
Officer Barry Scott was participating in a fundraising event in Sept. 2008 when he collapsed after a blow to the head. That blow ultimately led to the 22-year-old's death.
Scott joined Phoenix police in 2007 after an 18-month tour of duty in Iraq. He was assigned to the Maryvale Precinct in west Phoenix.
In honor of Officer Scott, Kaplan College dedicated their Criminal Justice wing in his name.
They also raised money for Scott's family by holding a bowling tournament and raffle Saturday.
