MESA - A man has been arrested after allegedly pistol-whipping a repo man who wanted to repossess his vehicle.
The car repossessor was struck in the head with the butt of a pistol, Mesa police say. The force of the blow caused the weapon to discharge, in a parking lot near Center and University in Mesa on Friday night.
The repo man was trying to take a car parked in a restaurant parking lot when the car's owner came out and approached him. The man apparently thought the repo man was trying to rob him.
Police say the men exchanged words and then the car owner pulled out the handgun and hit him. Afterwards, police say the owner got in his car and drove off.
Police later arrested him at Holmes Ave and Country Club Drive.
The repo man was not seriously injured. He suffered a cut to the head.
