Man Falls Into Pond at Mesa Golf Course, Dies

MESA - A man out walking on a Mesa golf course with his wife and friends has died after falling into a pond.

Mesa fire officials says they hope to determine whether the 72-year-old man drowned or died after suffering a medical emergency.

Fire department spokesman Thor Watson says crews were called to the Farnsworth Golf Course early Saturday afternoon and found the man's wife and friends performing CPR. They had managed to pull him from the pond.

Mesa police arrived and with other emergency crews took over CPR. The man had a faint pulse while on the way to the hospital, but died despite the efforts.
