Four Confirmed Dead in Vehicle Off Cliff

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that four men are dead after a vehicle drives off a cliff just six miles south of Crown King, Ariz. Wednesday afternoon.

YCSO says four people were inside a Chevy SUV that went off-road about 1:30 p.m. The vehicle was traveling on Cow Creek Rd and fell about 100 feet before coming to a rest.

The four victims were members of a church group. Their identities will be released once their families are notified.

It took several hours for personnel to get to the accident scene, because the terrain is rocky and mountainous. Crews are now working to remove the bodies and get them to the medical examiner's office.

"This is still very fresh for them, and they're determining the logistics of getting the bodies up the hill and out of this area. That may not even happen tonight, they may secure the scene and finish the work at daybreak tomorrow," says YCSO's Dwight Develyn.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
