DPS is investigating two separate collisions in which two people died while driving in the high country.
Saturday around 5:15 p.m. on I-17 north of Camp Verde, a 58-year-old man was killed in a one-vehicle rollover where a seatbelt was not in use.
Gilbert Alvarez was found dead on the scene, and 35-year-old Victor Vizcarra Jr. was treated for minor injuries.
The second crash occurred just after midnight Sunday on westbound I-40, about 12 miles west of Williams. A 21-year-old man died instantly.
DPS has identified the driver as Kory Allen Hofferber. DPS says Hofferber drifted to the right and overcorrected, colliding with a rock wall and rolling the vehicle into the median.
