Prescott Police have arrested a 58-year-old man who they say tried to stab someone protecting themselves with a frying pan.

Police say a transient, Timothy Westhouse, was at a local park on Sunday morning when he approached someone cooking a meal.

Witnesses told police that Westhouse was yelling and cursing at the victim, and then pulled out a knife and said he was going to kill the victim.

Police say the victim picked up a frying pan to ward off Westhouse's advances. The knife struck the frying pan several times.

When officers arrived, Westhouse threw away the knife and tried to flee.

He was booked into jail on charges of attempted negligent homicide, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, endangerment, and criminal damage.
