NOGALES (NewsCore) - A 94-year-old woman is facing drug trafficking charges after being found with marijuana strapped to her body while trying to cross the U.S./Mexico border, the Arizona Daily Star reported Wednesday.
Customs officials allegedly found six bundles of marijuana -- weighing 10.5 pounds and worth about $5,250 -- strapped to the Mexican woman's torso and down to her legs, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection statement.
Her stash was discovered when border officers picked her for further inspection at the Morley Pedestrian Gate on Tuesday.
The unidentified woman from the Mexican border town of Nogales, Sonora was turned over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
