NOGALES, Ariz. -- Customs and Border Protection officers in Nogales, Arizona stopped a drug smuggling attempt Tuesday when they seized a can of powdered milk, in which 1.5 pounds of crystal meth was hidden.
Officers were screening pedestrians Tuesday afternoon at the border crossing when they became suspicious of a woman.
The woman, a resident of Nogales and a United States citizen, had a can of powdered milk among her belongings.
Officers say the can had a plastic bag of crystal meth hidden inside. The crystal meth had an estimated street value of over $70,000.
The woman was turned over to ICE for investigation and prosecution.
