PHOENIX - Arizona's immigration law, SB 1070, will be going into place on July 29 and Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio weighed in on the issue at the FOX 10 studios Tuesday morning.
Babeu and Arpaio, two of the leading supporters of SB 1070 say President Obama's plan to send National Guard troops to the border is a joke.
"500 soldiers isn't going to cut it. We need 3,000 armed soldiers deployed to Arizona alone." says Babeu.
"500 people..that's a joke when you split it..they don't work 24 hours a day." Arpaio said. "They make the people think that something's being done at the border and that's sad to con the American people."
The sheriffs also say that claims by the Obama administration that there are more resources and less violence along the border is ridiculous.
