PHOENIX - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer calls a federal judge's ruling on the state's controversial immigration law "a temporary bump in the road."
The judge put most of the law cracking down on illegal immigration on hold Wednesday just hours before it was to go into effect.
Brewer told The Associated Press that she expects that the state will appeal the ruling.
The Republican governor is running for another term in November and has seen her political fortunes rise because of the law's popularity among conservatives. It's not yet clear how the ruling
will affect her campaign, but her Democratic opponent was quick to pounce.
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard said, "It is time to look beyond election year grandstanding and begin to repair the damage to Arizona's image and economy."
