Castle Built into Mountain Up for Sale

Castle complete with drawbridge & dungeon

It's been called one of Realtor.com's Top 10 Bizarre Properties -- and it is for sale right here in the valley.

The Coppenhaver Castle, which sits on the side of Camelback Mountain, is still up for sale. The asking price is $3.4 million. The owners just recently knocked off $400,000, hoping to entice a buyer.

The castle features a massage room, spa, and boasts five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It's got a drawbridge and turrets, even a dungeon and secret passageways. Its window facades were imported from an existing castle in Europe.

The castle was built back in 1967 using the rock from Camelback Mountain. "They chipped and they blasted rock right from the site, then they broke it down into smaller pieces, and they build it into the walls," says caretaker Zachariah Robertson.

The owner says it does need some interior work. The 7,800 square foot property also is without a kitchen.
