Al Gore, Sheryl Crow Host Greenbuild Expo

Thousands of people are packing downtown Phoenix Wednesday night, all for a chance to hear Al Gore speak and Sheryl Crow perform. They're here for an environmental convention.

The Greenbuild Expo is taking place at Chase Field. Companies are unveiling their newest eco-friendly products.

So far more than 26,000 people have registered. Despite the shape of the economy, the "green" trend keeps picking up pace. More and more companies are coming up with products to set themselves apart, and sustainability is a recurring theme.

"We are in a time now where we have to make some big changes and you guys are making big changes," Gore said during his 40-minute speech. "This movement is growing and building by leaps and bounds all over this country and all over the world. The future is coming at us and we have to accept responsibility for what's got to be done."

A dozen or so protesters lined the street right outside the field, criticizing the former vice-president for profiting on the conservation movement.

The event is open to the public -- tickets are $100.
