A Maricopa High School student has been taken into juvenile custody after telling a teacher a bomb would be placed on school grounds the next day.

Maricopa Police say the girl told a teacher she'd "be sorry" about a bomb, and she was immediately taken into custody.

The student and the classroom was searched but nothing suspicious was found.

The girl later told police she was trying to scare the teacher because she was angry.

She's been taken to the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center on felony charges of threats-disruption of a financial institution.

There are no classes Wednesday due to the holiday. The Maricopa Police Department says they'll monitor the campus when school resumes on Thursday.
