ASU Charter Schools Offer a Unique Way to Learn

PHOENIX - Arizona State University has opened a downtown charter school for K-8. Students at the charter school work closely with ASU professors, and the goal is to get every one of them into college.

There's already a waiting list for some classes.

Whether they're learning reading or robotics, students at ASU charter school are exposed to a unique way of learning. And it's not even a private school.

ASU and the University Public School of Phoenix are working hand-in-hand, teaching kids as young as 5 years old the skills that they'll need when they go to college.

Students don't work in grade levels. Every kid has a plan tailored to his or her academic goals.

Courses are also taught to parents to teach them how to be more involved in their kids' education. For parents who finish the course, their kid is guaranteed a spot at ASU.

More than 400 students are enrolled at the Phoenix location, located at 7th St and Fillmore. There is another campus in Mesa.

Next year, they plan to expand into a high school.
