1 Arrested in Scottsdale Rape, Break-In

A 47-year-old man has been arrested after breaking into a woman's home and sexually assaulting her.

Police were called to a home near the intersection of Thomas and Scottsdale Rd around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. A female victim told police that Mark Ziegler, an acquaintance, broke into her home, threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her.

She doesn't know how he got in.

The suspect ran out the back door and got in his car when someone else arrived at the residence.

Police found the suspect's vehicle parked nearby and a witness told police the suspect jumped a fence into an auto collision center. Officers found the man hiding underneath a parked vehicle.

Ziegler, of Pine, Ariz., has been booked on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, burglary, and aggravated assault.

The vicitm was treated at a Scottsdale hospital.
