PHOENIX - An elderly couple was pistol-whipped during a violent robbery at their nail shop Monday night.
Police say a pair of robbers stormed the north Phoenix nail salon, roughed up the owners, then took off with the money.
A male and female suspect took off with cash and left the pair shaken, covered in blood and crying. A customer was also hurt, and ran to a nearby business near 32nd St and Cactus to get help.
"She came in running, asking to call 911, and told us she'd been robbed and pistol whipped," said Karen Farr, a customer.
Phoenix Police say the two robbers, a man and a woman, made off with a couple hundred dollars.
"Most of these incidents, they don't typically come in and start striking people so violently, but for some reason this was the case in this incident," said Phoenix Police Lt. Tina Gonzales.
The shop owners and the injured customer were taken to the hospital to get checked out. They're expected to be ok.
Police are dusting for prints on the front door of the nail salon. They say the suspects drove off in a black SUV.
