MCSO Arrests Illegal Immigrant with $250K in Cash

PHOENIX - Sheriff's deputies arrested a 20-year-old illegal immigrant in possession of approximately $250,000 in cash and three firearms over the weekend.

Adolfo Beltran is from Mexico and was booked into the 4th Ave Jail. He was arrested following a traffic stop.

Deputies received a neighborhood complaint about possible drug activity at a home in the 7200 block of W. Montecito. After conducting surveillance on the home, detectives stopped two vehicles that were leaving.

In one of the vehicles, deputies found a large amount of cash. The traffic stops led to a search warrant of the residence.

During a search deputies found more money, an AK-47 assault rifle and two handguns. Sheriff Arpaio said in a statement, "Once again this shows the connection between the international financial side of drugs and illegal immigration."

The investigation is ongoing.
