Woman Arrested in Border Drug Smuggling

A 32-year-old Phoenix woman has been arrested and nearly 200 pounds of marijuana have been seized in a drug smuggling attempt Saturday.

Customs and Border Patrol officers at the Douglas Port of Entry came in contact with a 32-year-old woman driving a 2004 Chevy pickup truck.

The woman, a U.S. citizen and Phoenix resident, was selected for inspection.

High-tech equipment led to the discovery of marijuana concealed in the bed of the truck, as well as the gas tank. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $310,000.
