MESA - Mesa Police are releasing the 911 call made by a neighbor after she found an 11-month-old baby left outside in the scorching heat strapped in her carseat.

It happened on June 27. The woman called 911 to report a baby girl all alone sitting in a carseat on the front porch of a home.

911 caller: "I was walking down the street and there's a baby left at somebody's front door and I can't get anyone to answer the house."

"She's crying I don't know how long she's been here."

The baby was drenched with sweat and hot to the touch.

"I don't know if she's been swimming or if she's just hot but her hair is wet… hi sweetheart."

Police say the 11-month-old had been sitting in the triple digit heat for at least 30 minutes.

911 caller: "There are many cars in the front, I can't believe I haven't seen anybody walk by, because I tried to knock on the door before I called 911."

When firefighters arrived, they checked the baby's temperature, which was 101 degrees. The baby had a dirty diaper.

The baby's mother, Victoria Mitchell, finally came to the door 20 minutes after authorities arrived. She is facing child abuse charges.

Mitchell told police the front door was locked, so she set the baby on the porch. She went in through through the garage, that's when she said she got sick and started vomiting.

Police say Mitchell showed no remorse for leaving for her baby outside.

According to records, it wasn't the first time police have been to Mitchell's home. Back in 2007, a 2-year-old boy drowned in the backyard pool. Mitchell wasn't home at the time -- she was at work -- her boyfriend watching the kids.
