When you buy a toy for your kids, you expect it to be safe. But a new report shows several popular toys for sale are toxic, can lead to choking, or are just way too loud.
"We want consumers to be aware, we want parents to be conscious when they make the decision to buy these toys," says Jason Donofrio of the Public Interest Research Group.
Toys that make noise could potentially damage your hearing, and toys with small parts can be choking hazards.
"Every single day we see children come into the hospital with potential choking hazards, I don't think a month goes by I don't see a child with a coin stuck in their throat or something stuck in their airwaves."
One easy way to test toys at home is take the toy and put it in a toilet paper roll, if it fits inside, it's a potential choking hazard.
Other toys pose a toxic chemical threat.
The group puts this report out every year, and aims to help parents shop smarter during the holidays.
