Border Agent Charged with Molesting Teen

A U.S. Border Patrol agent has been indicted on charges of molesting a 13-year-old girl and giving pornography to a 10-year-old boy.

A judge entered a not guilty plea for 31-year-old Agent Flavio Maldonado in Pima County Superior Court on Friday.

Police in Sahuarita (sow-rah--REE'-tuh) began investigating Maldonado in February after someone called them alleging he had furnished obscene materials to the boy.

Police say the alleged molestation came to light during the subsequent four-month investigation.

They decline to specify how Maldonado knew the children.

Border Patrol officials say the four-year veteran assigned to the Nogales office is on desk duty pending the outcome of the criminal case.
