NEW RIVER - A 16-year-old girl has died in a tragic ATV accident in New River, Ariz.
The girl was driving, and a 17-year-old boy was on the back. It appears they were following another teen on an ATV, when they rear-ended it. The victims went flying into the air about 15 feet.
The girl was thrown from an ATV, and her body possibly hit a street sign before she died. The 17-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with a stick impaled in his collarbone. He's expected to survive.
"The helmets appear to have not been strapped on, they were just placed on the head," says Sgt. David Taylor of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
