Arpaio Protesters Take to Streets Saturday

Saturday, large crowds took to the streets to protest Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his controversial immigration policies. Several hundred people began marching at the Wells Fargo building in downtown Phoenix, and ended at Tent City.

Protest organizer Salvador Reza told FOX 10, "We have reports of people getting their arms broken, their jaws dislocated, intimidation everyday."

"I believe that morals and ethics is generally what should drive law enforcement," said protester Randall Jackson. "Not laws written in a law book, but rather, what's right in humanity."

The protest remained peaceful, although heated.

Sheriff Arpaio's supporters waited outside Tent City, outnumbered.

"Our country has been infiltrated with people that suck our system dry, and we need to make sure that people are here legally," said Arpaio supporter Wendy Schops.

"I'm not going to be intimidated by them, any elected official, any congress, any justice department. That's why I'm here. If you think I'm going to let them intimidate me, they can march every day every day," Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told FOX 10.

The march brought fewer people out than in previous years.
