FLAGSTAFF - A 23-year-old man has been arrested for threatening a Flagstaff High School football player as he walked home from practice.
Police say that around 7 p.m. Tuesday, a teen walking home from school was confronted by a man asking for money. When the boy ignored him, police say that George Dirgo, 23, started to get aggressive and used profane language. The boy pushed him back to defend himself and then Dirgo allegedly drew a knife.
The juvenile ran back to his friends and told them about the man with the knife. Then the suspect rode his bike over to the group of teens, cussing and displaying the knife. That's when police officers surrounded him and arrested him.
Dirgo has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, threats and disorderly conduct.
The investigation is ongoing.
