A new study finds women who are apple-shaped not only face a greater risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke, but could also suffer from dementia.
Those with an apple-shape have broader waists than hips and tend to carry more fat in the stomach area.
Previous studies found having fat around your middle increases the risk of heart disease by 70 percent and your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes by up to 80 percent.
The study revealed women who were apple shaped had more than twice the risk of developing dementia when they got older.
