SCOTTSDALE - Some 100 renowned artists from throughout the country will make the beautiful Sonoran Desert in north Scottsdale home for 10 weeks as they create original pieces of fine art in what has come to be known as one of Arizona's best venues for collecting fine art.

Thunderbird Artists Arizona Fine Art EXPO runs through Sunday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in the festive white tents at 26540 N. Scottsdale Road, on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Jomax Roads.

One highlight includes the Sculpture Garden, which is one of the largest and most diverse in the northeast Valley, featuring more than 75 pieces of sculptural art, including 25 large natural stone sculptures by recognized leading African artists.

Garden attractions include the elegance of a Koi pond, waterfalls, hummingbird and butterfly garden, roses, charming gazebo, putting green, bridges, and lovely quaint lounging areas.

Throughout the 10 weeks, featured events include art classes and workshops, wine tastings, garden parties, and book signings and live music every weekend.

For the first time, Arizona Fine Art Expo is offering free art classes to Veterans through the not-for-profit American Healing Art Foundation.

Season passes cost $8; admission for seniors and military is $7; and children under 12 are free. Parking is free.
