As we head into Thanksgiving week, St. Mary's Food Bank is announcing a desperate need for donations.
They may not have enough to feed the thousands of people who need help putting a meal on the table this Thursday.
So St. Mary's Food Bank is putting on a last-minute turkey drive to help needy families.
The problem is that donations aren't meeting demand this year. They're collecting fresh or frozen birds at their different valley locations.
This year's goal is to get 26,000 donated turkeys. Right now, they are only halfway there.
Jerry Brown from St. Mary's Food Bank says the economy is hitting them hard. They are seeing more people in need and fewer people able to give.
"A lot of people who used to give as donors are now coming to us and asking for food," says Brown. "The turkeys are basically going out as fast as they're going in. These 3 days are going to be make-or-break whether or not we're going to be able to feed everybody this year."
The St. Mary's Food Bank's turkey donation drive will kick off Monday and go through Wednesday.
