RVs Making a Comeback in Slow Economy

MESA - More people getting ready for their summer vacations are packing into RVs. There's a boom in RV rentals and sales this year, and it's because families don't want to spend a bundle on pricey airline tickets.

And what's unusual, is the demographic of people choosing a home-on-wheels. The fastest growing group of purchasers is those aged 35 to 47.

"With the economy, I think people are trying to be more economical when they're vacationing," says Tina Munford. "This is a great way to do it, rather than go hotel to hotel."

Debbie Brunoforte from Little Dealer Little Prices in Mesa says sales in 2010 have been much stronger than 2009. She says the ultralight-weight trailers are selling the fastest.

Some of the lower-end models run from $7,000 to $10,000. A premium trailer costs $47,000.
